George K. Corinthians Foundation

Information about the George K. Corinthians Foundation

My husband George passed away March 9, 2010. In the months prior to his death we spoke often of forming a non-profit foundation. George had so many thoughts and ideas of what his vision for his legacy should be….first and foremost he wanted to help people who found themselves in similar situations to ours take control of their healthcare and demand the best possible care. George wanted to share the story of the hell that he endured as well as myself and our daughter Alexis. I have always wanted to honor his wishes, but I find that even after nearly ten years since George died, I still cannot bring myself to write his story and share this emotion. I have asked myself many, many times how to go on and realize his wishes. I know he would understand that his foundation has to be what I can emotionally invest. Everyone who knew George will remember him as a kind, generous, gentle and loving man. The George K Corinthians Foundation will honor him by being a giving place. And for now, the foundation’s home will be here with me at this website.  We all miss you George.
Since the formation of The George K Corinthians Foundation, we have received donations from friends, family and customers of Renee’s Pet Grooming. We have not done any large fund raising…I have to admit that I am quite shy and not good at asking for donations, so all gratuities offered at my shop are deposited into the Corinthians Foundation and donated to various charities and organizations to honor my George. We have donated funds to Hospice and Community Care, Water Street Rescue Mission, The American Cancer Society and the Cholangiocarcinoma Society to name a few. These funds since his death have totaled over twenty-eight thousand dollars.
On a Sad note, this photo is a picture of Sprag, George’s best buddy. Sprag passed away in 2018 at the age of 23. This little guy got me through some rough times, and I shared so many good times with him too. Needless to say, I miss him so much but he is with George now and for that I am grateful.
